Made from extra strong and durable G-1000 HeavyDuty. The large main compartment can be accessed through the turned down top, and it has an inner pocket with padding at the bottom for a laptop (15"). Suitable both for everyday use and walks in the forest, and its simple functionality and durable material will make it a favorite for many years to come.

I have a bad habit of, like I'm sure most of us do, by focusing on bad reviews. I read the bad reviews of this bag before the good ones and because of that I almost didn't buy it. I'm glad I ended up getting it because I really truly love it.This bag is absolutely uni-sex. I'm a 6'3 guy, and it fits me really well. I'm not incredibly thin, I'm also not "big" either, and the straps fit me perfectly. I don't feel like the bag is riding too high on my back, and the straps aren't too tight against me where I feel like I'm being strangled. The biggest concern I had about buying this was the reliability. I'm the type to prefer more expensive "Buy It For Life" items rather than easily attainable/more affordable/less reliable things. So far though, this bag has been worn nearly every day. Work Mon-Fri with my heavy and trusty IT reference books. And on the weekends for my 15" laptop and photography gear. It has also been on multiple wilderness outings and across state lines. And with not so much as a thread out of place. I haven't had a chance to use it in the damp to test out the "pre-impregnated wax coating" but I'm sure it would help keep moisture out of the fabric no problem. The front pocket is a great size for your phone, wallet, pens, etc. And the expandable main pouch is perfectly sized for a laptop and books. The metal "hooks" holding the straps down are actually alot more easy to un-do than people say they are. I can un-do each strap, using one hand and without looking at it in about 1 second for each. It would honestly probably take me longer to open a traditional zipper bag. This really has been my favorite bag and I hope that the "built to last" tagline holds true. I also hope that you will considering purchasing this and enjoy it as much as I have!I haven't carried a backpack since I was in high school, and got this because my back was starting to bother me from always carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder. (I now teach, and usually carry a couple of folders, a book or two, a bag of markers, a snack or water bottle, and a thin laptop, all of which fit surprisingly easily in this bag.)The bag itself weighs next to nothing, and the very first day I wore it, I noticed the difference in my posture and how my back felt at the end of the day. I like the special laptop pocket with padding, and between that and the foldover top, I feel my laptop is very secure in here. The straps are comfortable enough that I don't even notice them, without being bulky. The canvas seems rain-resistant but I wouldn't carry it in a serious downpour or wear it biking in the rain. The hook closures seem more secure than magnetic snaps, and the one outside pocket is roomy enough for everything I need.My only wish is that this backpack included two more outside pockets on the sides (for an umbrella and/or water bottle), a loop to clip my keys to, and one pocket or compartment on the inside to organize pens and valuables. I think these could easily be added without junking up the streamlined look of the bag-- which I love.I have been looking at the Foldsack No.1 for a very long time. It was listed on Fjallraven's site at full price. Recently Amazon has been offering certain colors at anywhere from 50% - 10% discount. I took advantage of this and purchased this bag and have not been disappointed! It looks very small out of the box, but is actually very roomy, 16 liters worth of roomy. It can fit my Macbook Pro 15" and still has a bunch more room to fit textbook size objects. There is a pocket in the interior of the pack that fits my 15" laptop with room to spare in the pocket. The clasps for the flap have a hook at the end to be extra secure. The front zipper is very roomy. I was able to fit an entire ipad air 2 in it! (see attached picture). I could only find 2 pockets of sorts, the one inside the backpack that can contain a 15" laptop and the zipper-accessible pocket on the front. The zipper can be covered by the flap as long as there's not something super tall in it.The material has the tendency to pick up lint and and dust, think cotton and wool on black pants. It can be easily lint rolled away. The official specs:Height: 40 cmWidth: 30 cmDepth: 15 cmWeight: 590gVolume: 16LLove, love, love my Fjallraven Fold Sack! I'm a grad student and I use this bag everyday. I used to have a messenger bag, but got really tired of lugging around my laptop on one shoulder. I wanted a bag that looked more minimalist, but could also handle my 15 inch Macbook (there is a laptop pocket inside the bag). This bag fits everything I need for a long day working at my office, dashing between classes, or traveling to conferences. The straps have held up really well despite the weight of my laptop (which I was a little nervous about initially), and have just enough padding to be very comfortable without being bulky. I have a small organizer bag for keeping all my little items, cords, etc. from floating around and getting lost in the bottom (though you could just use the front pocket for that). Oh... and another huge plus for this bag - since it has a fold over design, the height of the bag (and therefore the internal volume) can vary depending on how much stuff you add and how tight you cinch down the flap's straps. I haven't had any issues with the hook and loop closures, they hook/un-hook as expected. I've never had a hook come undone, they always remain in-place.Ridiculous price for a lovely bag. Just what I wanted. It seems compact but I can fit my work laptop, an A4 ring binder and a lever arch as well as pencil case and notebooks, mouse and charging cable. It's much less bulky than bags I've had in the past.I like the easy opening. The straps are easy to open and close and having it as a 'drop in' top makes it quick and functional to use. Sure, you can't fully open it and see everything but you also won't tip everything out onto the floor when searching for something. I've never found it a problem to locate my things and the simple design is lovely - no million useless pockets to go through! Some reviews mentioned issues with the colour fading. I've only been using it two months but it looks good as new and I do get compliments on it. It's much easier to carry than an over shoulder bag. Whether I use on strap or both it isn't a problem. The pocket on the front is quite roomy too and whilst I like the fox logo I'm pleased there's no further logos as it maintains the simple clean design. So, I've never spent this much on a bag BUT I do love it! It looks good, it's functional, it carries well. You'll always pay a fortune for Fjallraven - the bag is great, it's up to you whether it's worth such a lot of money...The Foldsack is quite small for a backpack, which is exactly what I wanted; it has enough room for laptop, lunch, coat, notepad and pens, but not enough for a weekend away). I find it much more comfortable than a conventional briefcase or messenger bag when it has a heavy laptop in it. It also looks a lot more professional than a standard-issue backpack.I was pleased to find that the laptop sleeve takes my bulky 15.6" corporate laptop and isn't limited to the 15" in the description. It is a snug fit, though, so I wouldn't recommend buying this bag if your laptop is larger than that.It only has one pocket other than the main one, so I use a little Lihit Lab organiser for my pens, notebook etc. If you like a bag with lots of different compartments, this probably isn't the right choice for you.Love this bag, slim profile but fits everything in I want - 15.6" laptop and assorted extras. Seems like it will take some punishment although doesn't really do substantial internal padding - just don't throw the bag though and that's that sorted!Bought this as a gift for someone and they absolutely loved it!!! Best price I could find online, exactly as described, prompt next day delivery and the bag can be extended if needed. Beautiful product!Right out of the package you could tell that this is quality! Materials seems robust and look like this is going to withstand any type of weather. Ordered the navy which looks true to its color on the picture. You have a roomy spacd on the main compartment. Just don't expect that you could liken this to a Herschel in terms of space and material. It is a quality and a beaut in its own right! Wife would want her own one now!
